There are 5 key pieces of content you should post to your website to start bringing in more traffic, leads, and sales! Each one will help your brand stand out in the sea of brands out there. And remember: quality over quantity! Quality content that’s engaging and can inform and educate your readers about your industry, brand, and products, and pull them in to become a lead and eventually a buyer.

1. Content That Addresses Your Ideal Customer or Client’s Pain Points

This is is SO important. To go along with this, your content should address any objections your ideal client or customer has. This kind of content positions you as the expert, the go-to, and the one who can solve their problems or pain points.

Your company’s success ultimately hinges on the success of its customers or clients. If you want to continue to grow and expand, then you need to prioritize your customers or clients. And you can do directly by learning how to identify, address, and, ultimately, prevent the customer pain points they experience with whatever service or product you offer.

2. Content That Your Ideal Customer or Client is Actively Searching For

So many business owners get hung up on trying to post again and again on “fast” platforms like Instagram and Facebook with no real plan, just hoping and praying. YES, you can build an amazing engagement and sales strategies on these platforms, but first of all you need a strategy, and second, it’s also so important to put your business in front of people who are actively searching for you, your products, and what you have to offer.

Here are a couple of ways to determine what your ideal customer or client is looking for:

Ask them! Get into conversations with them. What are their frequently asked questions and pain points? This is content you need to post topics around.

Look on major search engines like Google and Pinterest. Use Google Keyword Planner to see exactly how many searches are happening every month for certain keywords and keyword phrases. It’s so important to choose phrases to highlight in your content that are not high in competition – that don’t have millions and millions of searches per month. You can also use Pinterest to see exactly how many searches are happening per month, by using their ads tools.

3. Content That is Useful and Shareable

This content should establish you as a trusted or inspirational source. The more shareable it is, the more shares, the more traffic and leads you’ll get. Here are a few ways to make content that is useful or shareable:

1 – Look at major competitors and their most-shared content from the past 6 months – not to copy them, but to get some ideas of what kind of content is being shared the most.

2 – Make lists – people love lists!

3 – Tell a story with your content. People love to be able to see themselves in a given situation, it makes it more relatable.

4 – Appeal to your audience’s values. Your ideal customer or client likely shares your values. These are the people you want to attract to become a lead or a buyer, and who you want to be sharing your content with their networks.

5 – Look at the first results in a Pinterest search for a topic relating to your niche. Whatever is at the top of search results is either an ad, or it is the most shared content relating to your niche and the keywords you searched for.

4. Content That Leads Your Ideal Customer or Client to Sign Up for Your Lead Magnet or Book a Call with You

This one is key. Think about your overall business goals. Why are you posting content? Just so it can be shared and get more hits? Think about the longevity of your business. It’s important to be able to get people on your email list or set up a call with you if you run a coaching or consulting business. Think about the funnel – what does this post lead to? How does it contextualize your expertise? Make sure to give it a call-to-action. Your content should inspire your ideal customer or client to take action.

5. Content That Is Keyword-Rich So People Can Actually Find It

It’s no secret that SEO optimized content does better online. This ties into my point that you should post content people are actually looking for. Piggy-backing on this concept, it’s important to add multiple keywords people might be searching for in relation to the content you’re posting, so you can appear higher in search results.

Here are some general SEO tips for posting blog content:

  • Use long-tail keywords in your title and body of the content.
  • Use keywords strategically throughout the blog post. Not too much, though – don’t “keyword stuff”.
  • Optimize your content for mobile devices.
  • Optimize the meta description.
  • Include image alt text for all images in the post.
  • Limit topic tags, make sure they’re fairly niche. Too many will confuse the search engines.
  • Include user-friendly URL structures. Lots of numbers are a no-no.
  • Link to related blog posts or outside content.

Make Your Content Work Harder for Your Business

By following these SEO best practices, you not only improve your content’s discoverability but also enhance the overall user experience, leading to higher engagement and better search engine rankings. Over time, you’ll make sure your content works harder for your business, allowing you to spend more time in other areas of business growth. SEO is an ongoing journey, so remember to stay updated with the latest trends and algorithm changes to keep your content at the forefront of your ideal customers’ searches.
